Scale-up resources on covid-19 for SA returnees- MEHN tells government

Health Rights activist has asked government to scale up its efforts in the provision of resources towards people returning into the country from South Africa.

George Jobe was speaking following the arrival of 980 Malawian returnees through Mwanza Boarder Post Thursday afternoon.

“Following the increased numbers of covid19 cases in South the government should ensure that the returnees are tested and followed,” Jobe

However he has hailed government for ensuring test kits and health personnel are available at the border post.

Mwanza Boarder spokesperson, Pasqual Zulu confirmed the arrival of the returnees.

He said authorities are on the ground providing assistance to them in the wake of covid-19.

When we contacted ministry of health on the same they referred us to Department of disaster management affairs which said is assessing the situation
