A research by MwApata Institute has found an increase in malaria cases in irrigated rice farms
During research dissemination workshop executive director of Mwapata institute William Chadza recommended empowerment of local organizations that are actively working with farmers to monitor occurrence of malaria in irrigated rice farms
Karonga district was selected as the location of the study and the research targeted 445 households
Professor Charles Magani from Kamuzu University of Health Sciences who conducted the research in conjunction with Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources highlighted preventive measures within households located close to irrigated areas
