President Chakwera to attend coronation of king of United Kingdom
President Lazarus Chakwera will attend the coronation of king Charles of United Kingdom
Ministry of foreign affairs has announced that Chakwera will depart for London on Wednesday 3rd May and the coronation ceremony will take place on 6th May.
According to the Ministry the president will take advantage of the visit to hold bilateral talks with government of King Charles and other world leaders
It says United Kingdom is Malawi’s long term development partner and the King is head of Commonwealth of Nations to which Malawi is a member
The ministry adds that Chakwera’s attendance is a demonstration of solidarity and commitment that Malawi has to its relationship with United Kingdom and Commonwealth
The president is expected to return to Malawi on Tuesday 9th May
