Potential Voters displeased with registration process
As second phase of voter registration ends tomorrow many people in Blantyre have expressed displeasure with the way National Registration bureau is treating them as they are unable to take part in the exercise due to lack of national id cards.
According to them although NRB officers are present at voter registration centres they are yet to start issuing the cards or the receipts of registration, a development they say is against court judgement.
They have since called upon NRB to act swiftly saying their right to vote in 2025 elections is being infringed
Speaking with Radio Islam, National Initiative for Civic Education Programs Officer for Blantyre, Glory Ngosi Maulidi, says democracy will be jeopardized if people fail to register for NRB and voter registration.
Maulidi says NRB should register the eligible voters in its system as failure to do so shall mean that a lot of people will be left out hence the election results may not be a true reflection of people’s choice.
We tried to speak with NRB officials but their spokesperson Norman Fulatila referred us to the bureau’s principal secretary Mphatso Sambo who did not answer our calls.
