MPS invites other stakeholders such as Malawi Human Rights Commission and Independent police complaints commission for joint investigation into the matter
James Kadadzera public relations officer for the service says the two police officers are in police custody for smooth investigation
It is reported that Lake Chirwa is in closed season and that the M’chenga beach village committee BVC a legally instituted group hired two police officers from Kachulu police unit in Zomba to help them patrol the lake from illegal fishing activities
“In the process three fishermen succumbed to bulletin wounds and were confirmed dead at Zomba district hospital while two others who were injured have been admitted,” Kadadzera
MPS is of the view that the force applied was excessive and should investigations confirm to this the officers will be charged with the offence of murder
Kadadzera says they have considered the gravity of this incident and the potential impact it has on the image of MPS and also in order to render the findings of this inquiry credible
