Parliamentary Cluster Committee recommends councilors’ duty free cars
Parliamentary Cluster on Social and Local Government Affairs has recommended that councilors be allowed to import one vehicle duty free
The cluster has made the proposal in its presentation of budget analysis delivered in Parliament on Friday.
According to the cluster chairperson Horace Chipuwa councilors face mobility challenges when discharging their duties in the wards.
However the proposal was not well received by lawmakers who murmured as the cluster chairperson was presenting the report.
The deputy speaker of parliament asked Chipuwa to repeat that statement so that the nation must understand it
Chipuwa asked ministry of finance to disburse the funds which were allocated to various sectors in local assemblies
Minister of foreign affairs Nancy Tembo told the national assembly that gold which is being mined in Malawi is genuine
Tembo was responding to a question from Member of Parliament for Thyolo Central Ben Phiri on reports that the country’s Gold is fake
According to Tembo the value of the Gold which government is in possession of is 96 percent
