Malawi Parliament receives ICT equipments from UNDP for safe working
United Nations Development Program UNDP has handed over ICT equipments to Malawi parliament so that members of parliament and staff continue working safely
Speaking during the handover ceremony UNDP resident representative Shigeki Komatsubara said they saw it important to donate to national assembly because it is a key institution in the country
Komatsubara said “we have put in place installed over 377 equipments in the parliament.”
Speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara said the equipments will help them to conduct their deliberations while observing covid-19 preventive measures
Hara said the donation will change the way parliament operates since the deliberations will be digitalised
For the first time in the history of Malawi Parliament held a virtual meeting to reduce congestion in order to prevent the spread of covid-19
Some cabinet Ministers and members of parliament died of the pandemic in parliament hence the virtual meeting
