Parliament passes Lake Malawi Water Supply project

Parliament has passed a bill that allows government to borrow K105 billion from NBS Bank and National Bank of Malawi for Lake Malawi Water Supply project.

Presenting the bill Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe said the funds will finance the abstraction and treatment of water from Lake Malawi at Lifuwu in Salima to Lilongwe city.

The project has for so long faced financing challenges, which saw a financier Quay Energy struggling and failed to raise the necessary financing
