Parliament confirms appointment of new inspector general
Parliament has confirmed the appointment of new inspector general Merlyline Nachulu Yolamu
Minister of homeland security Jean Sendeza presented the biography of Yolamu in the national assembly
Sendeza said the new inspector general has worked in the Malawi Police Service for over 35 years.
“Yolamu was admitted in Malawi Police Service in 1985 when she was 22 years old, she has bachelor’s degree in human resources management, masters degree in public policy and management,” Sendeza
Commenting Democratic Progressive Party DPP and United Democratic Front UDF accepted the appointment of Yolamu
Speaking on behalf of DPP Mark Botomani advised the new inspector general to be impartial, avoid corruption and handle well demonstrations
UDF president Lilian Patel concurred with Botomani advising the new inspector general to deal with corruption and unprofessional conduct of police officers
The confirmation of Yolamu comes few days after public appointments of parliament interviewed her following the appointment by the President
