Opposition parties against corruption in Malawi
A group on opposition parties has asked Democratic Progressive Party DPP led government to demonstrate its commitment that the rule of law is prevailing in the country.
The call comes after a leaked Ant Corruption Bureau report indicated that DPP has benefited from the alleged fraudulent contract between the Pioneer Investment and Malawi Police Service.
Speaking during a press statement held in Blantyre, Spokesperson for the grouping, Kamuzu Chibambo, said everyone involved in alleged scam must face the law.
“The grouping decided to voice out on the matter as they are very concerned that people in authorities are reaping from the public purse,” Chibambo said.
Some of the parties signed the statement are Republican Party, Malawi Forum for Unity and Development, Peoples Party, Peoples Progressive Party, Assembly for Democracy and Development, Malawi Democratic Party, New Labour Party, National Unity Party, United Transformation Party, Alliance for Democracy, United Independent Party, Democratic People’s Congress and Peoples Transformation Party.
