MWLT Engages Media On Safeguard

Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust MLWT has stressed the need for media to be cautious when writing stories on safeguarding.

Speaking during a media workshop on safeguarding MLWT safeguarding officer Elizabeth Mkutumula said the media has the power to protect or harm the vulnerable group if not careful when reporting issues.

Mkutumula said the workshop was part of awareness campaign on how to safeguard the vulnerable groups after noting a gap on the same.

She also said the media must help to communicate to the masses to address norms that harm the vulnerable in the society.

In her remarks one of the Blantyre based journalists Chrissy Mainjeni said the workshop has helped to bridge the gap that is there on safeguarding.
