Muslims demo on billboard removal called off

The much awaited Nationwide demonstration against the removal of the Islamic Information billboard have been postponed.
According to the organizers of the demonstrations,the development comes after a fruitful discussion they had with Muslim Association of Malawi and Blantyre city council.

Speaking to Radio Islam,one of the main organizers,Abdul-salaam Faduweck said they called for a round table discussion where they agreed to bring back the billboard.

“Muslims should continue holding their patience as there are few procedures needed to follow before re-erecting the billboard.”

He however warned that should Blantyre city council try to play delay tactics on the matter,Muslims will wake up and demonstrate in their large numbers.

Blantyre city Council late last month removed the billboard which had the message of encouraging people to read the Quran saying it received complaints from Christians that the message was disrespecting their faith.
