Ministry engages Stakeholders on Higher Education Bill

Ministry of education has engaged stakeholders on the higher education bill whose objective is to regulate, guide and ensure quality tertially education in Malawi

Speaking during a consultative meeting in Dowa secretary for education associate professor Mangani Katundu said the purpose of the meeting was to reflect on the bill to ensure that it covers all aspects required by the policy

Katundu said the bill ensure higher learning institutions are registered, accredited and provide students necessary skills to contribute effectively to development of the nation

Speaking earlier at the meeting director for higher education Dr Levis Enaya said implementation of the bill was done in three phases and their plan is to table it in parliament by February 2025

Deputy vice chancellor for Mzuzu University Wapulumuka Mluwafu described the bill as important because of an upsurge in the number of higher learning institutions and university students therefore will aid students to access quality of education equivalent to money they pay
