Ministry directs MANEB to resolve MSCE Examiners’ Concerns

Ministry of Education has directed Malawi National Examinations Board MANEB to resolve the concerns of teachers who are marking form 4 examinations

The Minister of education Madalitso Kambauwa Willima has made the directive after MANEB ordered all teachers who suspended marking the exams at St Mary’s secondary School centre to vacate by 10 am on Friday 23rd August 2024.

The teachers begun the strike because MANEB did not reimburse their transport funds, eating expired food and sleeping in hostels which have bedbugs among other challenges

MANEB officials met the teachers on Thursday to hear their concerns but on Friday morning the board released a notice of immediate closure of St Mary’s secondary School marking centre after suspending the marking with immediate effect

Management of MANEB said payment of fees for scripts already marked shall be made soon through direct bank transfers adding that examiners wishing to continue the marking exercise per agreed and duly signed terms should fill relevant forms

Meanwhile the Ministry of education says the disagreement between the teachers and MANEB has been resolved
