Minister of Labour resigns

Minister of Labour Agnes Nyalonje has resigned from the cabinet.

According to Nyalonje she resigned from the Cabinet following the death of former vice president Dr Saulos Chilima

She has revealed that she submitted her resignation back in July but was asked to delay its enactment.

However the president has now accepted her resignation.”

Her party, UTM, was a key partner in Tonse Alliance administration until few months ago when it opted out of the alliance

Nyalonje was the minister of education before being appointed minister of labour in Chakwera’s administration.

Commenting, political analyst Victor Chipofya has described the resignation of Nyalonje as unprecedented which sends a very strong statement as to where the government stands with the people.

Chipofya has commended Nyalonje for upholding to her royalty to the UTM party.

He has requested other government officials to draw a lesson from Nyalonje’s doing what is right using their constitutional rights.
