MEHN Asks Government to Sensitive People on Typhoid Fever
Malawi Health Equity Network MEHN has asked Ministry of Health to intensify sensitization campaigns on the suspected typhoid fever.
Executive Director of MHEN George Jobe has made the remarks following a suspected outbreak of Typhoid fever in Mzuzu and Mzimba districts.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, Jobe said the country has the ability to contain the disease if it responds quickly.
“The communities should protect water sources, practice proper waste management and avoid salads which are said to be some of the causes of the disease,” he said.
Speaking in a separate interview ministry of health spokesperson, Joshua Malango, said the ministry is aware of the situation, but was quick to say it has not reached the extent of an outbreak.
Malango said they have managed to control further spread of the disease.
