MEC Set to go Electronic Voting
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says it is set to migrate to electronic voting system once people start to trust the electronic voting processes.
The remarks have been made by MEC Commissioner Olivia Liwewe during the handover ceremony of voting materials to parliament for the just ending by -elections which took place in Lilongwe North West constituency, Karonga Central constituency and Makhuwira ward in Chikwawa district.
According to Liwewe, MEC is into electronic technology, hence there need for massive civic education to the public to migrate from voting using papers to electronic.
Liwewe added that there is need for mindset change so that people start to trust electronic voting.
In his remarks, deputy assistant clerk of Parliament Chikondi Kachinjika said the voting materials will be safe and available when required.
