MCP Women harassed in Blantyre to Chilembwe Commemorations
Democratic Progressive Party DPP says recent harassment of women wearing an attire of Malawi Congress Party is unacceptable and must be strongly condemned
In a statement released on Wednesday DPP says Malawi is a country that upholds civil rights and liberties therefore it is the duty of police to protect its citizens
Signed by national publicity secretary Shadrick Namalomba the party says perpetrators must be swiftly apprehended
Namalomba says they also expect those responsible for hacking DPP members in Mponela, Mbowe and Lilongwe Community ground to be taken to task
He says despite MCP’s attempt to shift blame onto the DPP the party is not responsible for those acts
DPP says it is MCP that should take accountability for creating an environment of intimidation and harassment towards those with differing opinions
