Mangochi Portable Water Project Inaugurated
The extended Mangochi portable water supply which will benefit over 92000 people has been inaugurated
In his speech at Nkhudzi bay President Lazarus Chakwera said there is need for the country to allocate its resources into productive areas to boost economy.
The president said if this country does not invest in water resources Malawi will continue to face water borne-diseases challenges like cholera outbreak.
He asked Southern region water board to do the same in similar projects that are being championed in other areas.
On this note Chakwera has urged the new finance minister to put government resources in productive areas adding the Nkhudzi bay project is the model for money well spent.
Representative of Kuwait that has funded the project said his country has contributed 85 million dollars towards development of Malawi in various sectors since the commencement of their bilateral relationship
Chairperson of the board of Southern region water board Brown Mpinganjira said are in the final stages of procuring a consultant for the European Investment project which will cover Liwonde and Balaka Towns
Mpinganjira asked Ministry of finance to release 2 billion kwacha for the water project in Makanjira
Executive director of FOSEMA Forum for Social and Economic Development in Mangochi FOSEMA which fought against the project’s injunction Smith Kamwana expressed gratitude towards completion of the project because will benefit many people
