MAM Cheers Families Affected by Cyclone Freddy in Chiradzulu district
As one way of cheering the families affected by cyclone Freddy in some parts of the country, Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has distributed food hampers to devastated families in Kanyenda Village, Traditional Authority Mpama in Chiradzulu district.
The distribution comes barely few days after MAM stated in the latter that the office is tabulating the figures to ascertain the kind of assistance is urgently needed.
But speaking after the donation, Chairperson for board of trustees of MAM, Sheikh Ali Kennedy, said they are waiting for the donor partners, the office decided to share with affected families few items they have at the moment managed to source.
Sheikh Kennedy also appealed to all Malawians to join forces in alleviating the suffering displaced people are facing.
During the exercise, Mkanabodza family of Chemusa in Blantyre also distributed duvets and other second clothes to families.
Speaking on behalf of the families, Khadija Chiuta Mkanabodza, said she was touched when she saw videos of how the destitute families are living.
Mkanabodza said the gesture is part of sharing the pains affected families are going through.
The food packs have been distributed with the financial support from the United Arab Emirates based international organization called Sharja Charity International.
