Malawi to increase export of fruits to UAE

Government says is set to increase its fresh fruit export to United Arab Emirates UAE.

Speaking to Radio Islam, spokesperson of ministry of Trade and Industry, Patrick Botha says this follows the increase in demand of Malawian Mangoes which have proven to be competitive especially in Gulf region.

Botha has emphasized that farmers and exporters should engage with off takers to understand which mangoes are in demand.

The ministry has revealed that Malawi’s mango export deals between 2019 and 2023 averaged 2.04 million dollars and 2.6% was for United Arab Emirates.

He said government is now sorting out logistical issues at Kamuzu International Airport as UAE has promised to expand cargo flights to Malawi.
