Malawi Hosts International Mayors’Forum

Malawi is hosting international Mayor’s forum in Lilongwe.

The event is being held under the theme “High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, Transformation towards Sustainable and Resilient societies, with Special attention on 5 Sustainable Development Goals.

It is expected to to end on Friday 18 May, 2018.

Speaking during the opening of the event, Minister of Local and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa said “international forum for mayors and city leaders is very important because they will share ideas to achieve sustainable cities by 2030.”

In his remarks, Mayor of Lilongwe City Council Dr Desmond Bikoko said the forum will help to reduce the challenges Lilongwe City is facing due to migration.
