K6.2 billion covid-19 funds audit to take a month-Chakwera
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has said audit of the 6.2 billion kwacha covid-19 funds will take a month to complete
Chakwera told the nation that the audit is in two phases and the first of it will focus on validation of the report from presidential task force while the second will focus on investigating how every kwacha was spent
He said upon completion of the independent audit any public officer associated with wrong doing will be dealt with
“The inter-dictions of heads of clusters and controlling officer pave way for an independent audit of the 6.2 billion kwacha which was spent on our national response to covid-19 between September and December last year,” Chakwera
The president said schools will reopen on 22nd February and academic calendar revised for all public schools to ensure that students receive adequate teaching to meet curriculum requirements
Chakwera disclosed that the 100000 doses of covid-19 vaccine have delayed to arrive in the country by 7 days therefore the country will receive them along the 1.5 million doses for the other targeted groups
He revealed that in his next covid-19 update which will be the last will outline measures his administration has developed to cushion the poor against economic aftershocks of the pandemic
