Government warns companies polluting water

Ministry of Natural resources energy and mining has warned the general public against polluting various water bodies in the country.

In a press release, the ministry’s secretary Patrick Matanda said this is a breach of environmental management acts of 2017 and 2008.

Matanda said the industries are aware of the provisions against the malpractice hence the ministry will take action on any if they continue dumping waste into water bodies.

Commenting on the same the ministry’s spokesperson Sangwani Phiri said industries are supposed to treat the waste before dumping them into various water bodies or sites.

Therefore the ministry has given up to 30th April such companies to take corrective actions against the malpractice in order to keep Malawi a safe place to live in.
