Government Plans to Construct Additional Fuel Reserves
Government says is diversifying other alternatives to ensure that issues of fuel crises remain history in the country.
Minister of Energy Sheikh Ibrahim Matola disclosed the plans in Blantyre during a public interaction he hosted in company of Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kumkuyu.
Speaking during the meeting Sheikh Matola said government is contemplating of constructing additional strategic fuel reserves in three cities of Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Blantyre.
He said government is also negotiating with Zambia to extend its fuel pipe to Malawi.
The minister however on all Malawians to work together in the fight against vandalism which he said is derailing government efforts of developing the country.
Sheikh Matola further said time has come to name and shame such enemies of development for the country to prosper.
In his remarks minister of information and digitalization said government has also signed contracts with new fuel companies to increase fuel inflows
Kumkuyu said government has started negotiating with fuel supplies if it is possible for Malawi to pay in kwacha and reduce the forex crisis.
