Former ACB boss arrested in Sattar corruption scandal

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested former ACB boss Reyneck Matemba and former Board Chairperson for Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets (PPDA) Authority, John Suzi-Banda for allegedly receiving bribes from Zuneth Sattar.

The bureau says the arrest is in relation to the vetting of a 350,000 food ration packs contract worth 7, 875,000 dollars

ACB Spokesperson Egritta Ndala says investigations conducted by the Bureau established that Matemba pocketed 10, 000 dollars as an advantage for the vetting process of the food rations contract while Suzi-Banda received K3, 000,000

Meanwhile, court has granted bail to Matemba

In a related story, Ant corruption bureau ACB is investigating the dubious purchase of expensive car by Minister of natural resources Eisenohower Mkaka

This follows an appeal in July by Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI to ACB director Martha Chizuma to investigate the matter

In her response Chizuma says has already launched its investigations and once completed will notify the nation

CDEDI also appealed to ACB to investigate senior government officials on allegations of abuse of office and dubious accumulation of allowances

In her response Chizuma says the bureau is screening the complaint after which a determination will be made on the way forward
