ESCOM increases Electricity Tariffs by 16%

Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi ESCOM has increased electricity tariffs by 16 percent effective 1^st February 2025

According to ESCOM the increase is a second tranche of a four year base tariff which was approved by Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority MERA

The corporation says tariff adjustment will significantly help improve its service delivery

The electricity tariff has been increased at a time Malawians are still struggling with persistent blackouts
