EGENCO shuts Nkula B Power Station, causes persistent blackouts

Electricity Generation Company EGENCO has announced the shutting down of Nkula B power station due to burst bypass of one of the five machines

In a press release senior public relations officer for EGENCO Moses Gwaza said this means 100 megawatts are currently not available for supply to ESCOM

Gwaza said EGENCO is running all available diesel power plants to minimize impact of Nkula B shutdown

“Nkula B has been dewatered and shut down to prevent flooding, further damage to machines and allow for repairs,” Gwaza

Meanwhile, ESCOM says will effect load shedding especially during peak hours
