DPP asks Malawi’s partners to push for different IDs use in Voter Registration
Democratic Progressive Party DPP has asked Malawi’s partners to help in pushing for the use of other ids in voter registration
Addressing the press secretary of DPP Peter Mukhitho says is concerned with plans by current government to rig next year’s general election
Mukhitho said MCP wants to rig elections by denying eligible voters to register because they do not have national identity cards which are required for one to register
He says the ruling party is deliberately barring people to register because is biased towards other districts
Therefore Namalomba has appealed to chief justice and development partners to assist in rectifying such challenge
He asked President Chakwera to fire secretary to President Colleen Zamba, ministers of transport Jacob Hara and agriculture Sam Kawale because of the dubious fuel and fertilizer deals.
Namalomba said 11 children and 8 men have died of hunger and 68 billion has been mismanaged for the construction of Nsanje Marka railway line
He asked leader of opposition to press government to do investigation on the dubious deals and challenged ACB to carry out its work effectively
Namalomba asked development partners and Civil Society Organisations to push government to have other id’s for voter registration
On his part Dr George Chaponda says the speaker should resign or else will move a motion to impeach her
Director of Women Mary Navicha lamented that many people do not have ID’s though the voter registration begins this month
