Councillor encourages Muslims on education and Islamic dressing
Former Chairperson of Mangochi district Council, Councilor Yusuf Kusweje, has advised Muslim youths in the district to have the passion for both Islamic and secular studies and observe Islamic code of dressing.
Kusweje who is councilor for Nthundu ward was speaking during the opening of Muslim Sisters Youth Organisation MUSYO camp which was held under the theme “Education and Dressing”.
Kusweje who is also shadow MP for Mangochi central constituency said “the country needs people who are well educated to effectively compete in different positions.”
In her remarks, chairperson for MUSYO Mangochi district Rose Malombe said they decided to hold the camp to promote Islamic dressing as well as inspire the girls to continue with their education.
She added as MUSYO Mangochi chapter, “our agenda is to improve education status of the girl child by eradicating early marriages and immigration of children to South Africa.”
