Civil Servants petition Balaka district commissioner over salaries delay

Civil Servants in Balaka have petitioned the district commissioner over delay of their May salaries.

According to the concerned group which conducted a peaceful march to the office, they wanted to hear from the DC the reasons behind the delays.

They said if they do not receive tangible feedback will not go back to work.

One of them who is a teacher Patricia Chimwala said they always experience the delays comparing to other districts.

In his remarks the district commissioner Darwin Mngoli said the delay is due to underfunding.

Mngoli said they have been waiting for a response from ministry which faced technical challenges.

He however assured the grouping that will ensure such incidents do not repeat.
