Chinese nationals hand over Chigodi Police to Malawi

Chinese nationals have handed over a newly built Chigodi police unit in Southwest Region.

The police unit has been constructed at the tune of K32 million kwacha.

Speaking during the function commissioner responsible for southwest region Richard Luhanga thanked the Chinese community for the infrastructure.

“Police officers should maintain professionalism and refrain from fraudulent acts when executing their duties,” Luhanga

The commissioner responsible for southwest region advised police officers who will be assigned to work at the formation to always work with members of the community if the fight against crime is to be won.

Mr Luhanga bemoaned mob justice saying it jeopardizes police investigations.

He then requested police officers to take good care of the facility.

In his remarks vice chairperson for Chinese community Yanwu Shen said Chinese nationals have been plying their businesses in Malawi for over 20 years hence thought of constructing the facility as part of corporate social responsibility.

Shen also said the donation is one way of strengthening security and has since pledged for more support on security issues.

He therefore asked police to work hand in hand with them in the fight against crimes.

In his speech Limbe police station executive committee Chairperson Mussah Lambart also commended the Chinese community for the timely donation and requested others to emulate the gesture.

Also present at the function was Traditional Authority Machinjiri who stressed that the coming in of the police unit will enhance security in the area.
