Child Health Day: Health Ministry urges staff to reach all eligible children
Health Ministry has urged its workers to be vigilant in ensuring that all eligible under-five-children are reached during Child Health Days campaign which has started today.
The call has been made through a press statement made available to Radio Islam.
In the statement signed by Chief of Health Services, Dr Charles Mwansambo, the campaign is targeting all children from 6 months to 5 years of age.
During the week the Ministry of Health is expected to provide Albendazole tablets, Vitamin A supplementation and dissemination of health messages.
The ministry therefore has appealed to mothers and caregivers of under five children to take their kids to nearby clinics to get the services.
The campaign which has commenced today June 9 will end on Friday June 13 and is taking place in all health facilities, outreach clinics as well as designated temporary sites.
Malawi conducts the Child Health Campaign twice every year as one way of promoting child health.
The initiative is also expected to contribute towards the reduction of child morbidity and mortality.
