Health authorities in Mchinji have urged communities to get malaria test from professional medical doctors before taking any medication
Malaria coordinator for Mchinji Lameck Mzava made the sentiments as Malawi failed to join the globe in commemorating world malaria day due to covid-19 pandemic
Mzava said the border district continues to record high malaria hence the need to sensitise the masses the importance of visiting the hospital once they have noticed signs of the disease to curb the disease
However he explained that “due to covid Mchinji will commemorate the day at the launch of the Zero malaria starts with me campaign in future.”
Last year Mchinji recorded over 400 thousand cases against a population of less than 700 thousand and about 887 people died of malaria in the district alone
