Al-barakah Charity Trust Challenges Women to Fight Corruption

Al-barakah Charity Trust ACT has stressed the need for women to play their role in the fight against corruption.

This was said by ACT director of Finance and Administration, Saeed Witness, during the graduation ceremony of 15 women in tailoring held at Kameza in Blantyre.

According to Wittiness corruption is derailing the development efforts at all levels as such it is important that when doing different women empowerment programs they should also be told and reminded about the evils of corruption.

He emphasized that women empowerment programs cannot be meaningful when women are involved in corrupt practices such as selling the resources provided to them.

Witness has since urged the graduating women to be entrepreneurs as they utilize the skills they have acquired to uplift their live hoods.

In her remarks, one of the graduation women Amina Henderson, thanked Albarakah for the support and promised to utilize the skills gained in uplifting her family and the community at large.

Henderson said the one year journey has not been easy but thanks for the support they received from their husbands and family members towards their achievement.

Meanwhile, Albarakah Charity Trust has given each of the graduating students a sowing machine, 6 yards of cloth, and money amounting to 10,000 as a starter pack.
