Mangochi town council disinfects public places
Mangochi town council has disinfected several government offices including Mangochi prison and central market as one way of containing the spread of corona virus.
Speaking to radio Islam, Deputy Mayor for Mangochi town Council Kenneth Chimombo said the council is disinfecting places where more people gather to source basic needs to prevent them from contracting the virus.
Chimombo added the exercise was lined up in their activities after receiving funds from the government worth 30 million to fight the pandemic.
“The money is not enough, as municipal council we have a lot of areas we need to tackle so we cant say money is enough”.
Meanwhile District Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response Coordinator Stenly Rashid said Mangochi has 3 active coronavirus cases hence the need for people to continue maintaining social distance and observe preventive measures.
Rashid has advised people in the district to continue adhering to covidd-19 preventive measures.
In his remarks, Vice chairman for Mangochi central market, John Kasimu has commended the Council for the initiative, saying it will protect many people.
Mangochi has so far recorded 152 cases of covid-19.
