Mangochi residents accuse council for selling stadium land
Chief executive officer for Mangochi town council Andrew Misomali has refuted allegations that the council has sold the land which was demarcated for the construction of a stadium.
Speaking in an interview with radio Islam Misomali said that 16 plots which the council has sold were not meant for the construction of the stadium.
“The council has sold the plots as one way of raising funds for the commencement of the project,” said Misomali.
Commenting on the development group village headman Mapila in the area of T/A Mponda confirmed the allegation that he has seen some bricks at the plot which was eye marked for the stadium.
“As chiefs we asked the council to construct a school at the remaining plot but the council failed to do so,” revealed chief Mapila.
Chairperson for the district football committee Darlwin Mushan said he does not know anything about the issue but was aware of the plot which will be used to construct a stadium for the council to be collection more revenue.
