TUM Asks Government To Stick To Promise
Teachers Union of Malawi, TUM has asked government to stick to its earlier promise of paying teachers on time.
The call comes following reports that some teachers who receive their salaries through NBS bank have not received their May salaries.
According to TUM secretary general Charles Kumchenga, government did not provide reasons of the delay to pay teachers salaries in some parts of the country.
“This has affected the learning and teaching process as the said teachers have put their tools down to force government to pay them their money,” Kumchenga said
Teachers are the main sector of civil service that mostly suffers in as far as late payment of salaries and arrears is concerned.
