Malawian Sheikh, Hussein Ubini has emerged third in this year’s King Muhammad the sixth foundation for African Ulama’s Islamic research competition in Africa.
The award was presented by Sheikh Bakar Duncan,chairperson for king Muhammad the sixth foundation for African Ulama Malawi chapter at a ceremony held in Morocco.
In an interview following the event, the foundations secretary general Sheikh Alli Kennedy praised Ubin for the job well done adding that securing 3rd position out of 48 participating countries is no mean achievement.
He said Malawi had two participants in the research competition this year.
However Sheikh Kennedy said “non from Malawi qualified in the Quran and hadeeth competition.”
He has therefore encouraged all Muslims in the country to participate in such competitions in order to put Malawi on the map.
In his remarks the awardee, Sheikh Ubini, administrative Secretary at Mama Khadija Girls Academy in Mangochi has expressed joy for the win saying the competition has inspired him to take up more challenging projects.
He has thanked the foundation’s chapter in Malawi and Muslim Association of Malawi leadership for the continued relationship with the government of Morocco.
Sheikh Ubini also encouraged Malawian Muslims to believe in themselves and embrace such competitions for their personal development as well the nation at large.

Management ICBM was the first Malawian to win such a competition last year when he finished on 2nd position.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM), Sheikh Idrisa Muhammad has sent a congratulatory message to sheikh Ubini for the success.
Sheikh Muhammad also applauded the Moroccan government for its unwavering commitment to the development of African countries.
The MAM Chair highlighted Morocco’s support in various sectors, including education, where Malawian youths benefit from scholarships to study in the country as well as in health and agriculture.
Sheikh Muhammad also acknowledged Morocco’s contribution to Islamic development through organisations such as the King Muhammad VI Foundation for African Ulama, which has been organizing Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic research programs.
He said such initiatives have helped to enhance people’s understanding of the religion and preservation of the Holy Qur’an.
