Supplementary Voter Registration commences

Supplementary voter registration has commenced today in some districts

According to Malawi Electoral Commission the supplementary voter registration is taking place in Mzimba, Lilongwe city, Lilongwe District, Mangochi, Mwanza, Chikwawa and Nsanje districts

Malawians will go to the polls on 16 September 2025 to choose President, Members of Parliament and Ward Councillors

MEC is expected to conduct the supplementary voter registration for all three phases

It is conducting this exercise after political parties and civil society organisations bemoaned irregularities during the exercise

High Court had ordered MEC and National Registration Bureau to make sure all eligible voters are registered to vote

But MEC announced that will register only those who presented themselves during the voter registration at the registration centres.
