CFTC records increase in Complaints on unfair practices

Competition and Fair Trading Commission CFTC has recorded an increase in the number of complaints on unfair practices from 390 last year to 449 this year.

According to CFTC public relations officer Innocent Helema there is a notable rise of resolved cases from 310 in 2022/2023 year to 364 by March 2024

Speaking to Radio Islam Helema attributed the surge in complaints to the growing confidence and trust that consumers, traders and the public have in the commission’s ability to address their concerns effectively

“Most common violation reported is unconscionable conduct which constitute 237 cases and includes issues such as excessive pricing as well as unfair contract terms,” Helema
