CDEDI challenges Attorney General to reinstate TECNO Brain Passport Printing Contract

Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI has challenged attorney general to reinstate passport printing contract with TECNO Brain within a week.

Executive Director of CDEDI Sylvester Namiwa has told reporters that if Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda fails to recall TECNO Brain in 7 days tax payers will hold vigil at attorney general’s office until he resigns

Namiwa says CDEDI has arrived at that decision following its findings which have revealed that Malawi government is in the process of procuring a new passport supplier which will cost taxpayers 69 billion kwacha

He says Malawians continue facing hardships to access the passports at immigration department and are being denied entry in other countries because the ones being printed are fake.

He says selfish public officials are enriching themselves while passport applicants are spending sleepless nights at immigration offices

Namiwa then asked director of Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority MACRA Daudi Suleman to address the nation on the use of billions of kwacha to establish a city in central region
