DODMA Launches Food Distribution For Hunger Stricken People
Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA) has launched the distribution of food to people affected by hunger in Mangochi in lean season
Speaking during the distribution in the area of Senior chief Chowe Commissioner for the Department Charles Kalemba called for fair distribution of the items and warned responsible authorities against corruption.
Kalemba advised communities to avoid constructing houses near Lake Malawi and Shire River to prevent disasters.
Commenting on the development Ernest Kadzokoya Chief executive officer for Mangochi municipal council said 75 thousand households are expected to benefit from the response
He urged DODMA to also consider those who are staying in town to be part of the initiative saying they are equally affected by the crisis.
Meanwhile one of the beneficiaries Betrice Adini from group village headman Ntagaluka said it was not easy for her to feed the family due to lack of food but the bag received will lessened the hunger situation
