Court Orders DPP to Hold National Meeting in 90 Days
High court has ordered Democratic Progressive Party DPP to hold a properly constituted national governing council meeting within 90 days
This directive has been made after four politicians including Kondwani Nankhumwa on 19th July sued DPP for holding the meeting without following the constitution of the party
In his judgment judge Simeon Mdeza nullified proceedings and resolutions which were made at DPP national governing council meeting in Mangochi on 3rd July this year for noncompliance with an order of 5th July
Mdeza directs that only candidates who are eligible under constitution must contest on positions at the party’s national elective conference
He stopped DPP from implementing or taking any action based on proceedings and resolutions of the meeting
