President Appeals to UN Countries to Cancel Malawi’s debts

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has called upon rich countries to cancel Malawi’s debts and those of other least developing nations

The president was speaking during the 78th session of United Nations General Assembly UNGA in New York, United States of America.

Chakwera says the country remains committed towards rebuilding its economy which has been affected by natural disasters, covid 19 and Russia Ukraine war.

The president has told the assembly that has only made progress in 5 out of 17 sustainable development goals there by calling for agent support.

The Malawi leader has also asked developed countries to change the rules at the UN council that have held back Malawi’s development for decades.
