Malawi-Mozambique Officials Meet on Cross Border Crimes

In their tireless efforts to reduce cross border related crimes between districts of Mulanje in Malawi and Miranje in Mozambique, security officials from the two countries held a bilateral meeting

Speaking during the meeting held in Mulanje the district police station officer in charge deputy commissioner of police Owen Maganga said it was also aimed at enhancing good relationship with the neighbouring Mozambique

Maganga cited unchartered routes and porous borders as some of the problems fueling cross border crimes hence the need to work together

Miranje police commandant principal superintendent Alice Evarista thanked Mulanje police for hosting them adding there is need to protect lives and properties of both border districts

Evarista said the border between Malawi and Mozambique does not have a fence since it is separated by a River therefore some criminals take advantage of that to cross the border illegally

On his part Melosa border customs in charge superintendent Pedro Raido called on sedurity officers from the two countries to check and search all goods entering the border

Meanwhile Muloza immigration officer in charge senior superintendent Abraham Dezio Mussa says the meeting will help security officials to provide good customer care to people from both countries.
