MBS bans importation of Ndola Lime from Zambia

Malawi Bureau of Standards (M B S) has banned importation of Ndola hydrated lime from Zambia into this country with immediate effect

According to a press release, MBS found the products defective and substandard after conducting various laboratory tests

Director General of Malawi Bureau of Standards Dr. Benard Thole, says MBS received various complaints from some users in Lilongwe and Blantyre in May this year

For instance the lime exploded after mixing with water hence destroying the building and burning the workers

Dr Thole adds that MBS has ordered immediate re-exportation of 1150 defective bags and the lime will only be imported once manufacturing requirements are met
