TEVETA commends Malawi Relief Fund UK, Issa Foundation over Development
Technical and Vocational Training Authority TEVETA has commended Malawi Relief Fund UK and Issa Foundation for complementing the implementation of Malawi agenda 2063 through informal vocational training schools in Malawi.
TEVATA executive director Elwin Sichiola made these remarks during graduation ceremony of 95 students who completed informal training course in bricklaying, carpentry and joinery and tailoring in the area of traditional authorities Ntchema and Onga in Chiradzulu district.
Sichiola said vocational skills are the only way for Malawi to achieve agenda 2063 hence calling upon graduates to perfect their skills for them to compete on the market and earn more money.
The TEVETA director also commended Malawi Relief Fund UK for including more women into informal training programs saying it is the viable way for women empowerment at community level.
On this note Sichiola who was the guest of honor at the graduation held at Maone Vocational training college urged the graduates to form cooperatives for them to get loans and win projects
In his remarks, Chiradzulu district commissioner Francis Matewere said training of people in informal skills is in line with district council’s development plans therefore the Council is committed to use graduates from Maone vocational Training college in building of 59 houses at Mikolongwe for people affected by cyclone Freddy
Malawi Relief Fund UK country coordinator, Yakub Valli pledges to introduce informal training projects throughout the country as one way of assisting government in developing rural masses.
Valli said the 95 students who have graduated have also been equipped with starter up toolkits for bricklaying and carpentry and joinery whilst tailoring graduates have received sewing machines, amounting to 18 million Malawi kwacha.
“Malawi Relief Fund UK with funding from Issa Foundation has managed to establish informal training centres in areas of senior chief Ntchema and TA Onga at Chotokwa, Chapola and Swadick with guidance from TEVETA and National Informal Sector Training Providers Association,” Valli
Apart from providing vocational trainings through Maone Vocational Training College and informal training centres in communities, Malawi Relief Fund UK with funding from Issa Foundation champions other life changing initiatives to rural masses like provision of safe and clean water, health, education through scholarships and other humanitarian aid across Malawi.
