Zimbabwe President visits Malawi
Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa has handed over to Malawi 300 metric tons of food, cement, education and household materials, blankets and others for survivors of cyclone Freddy
Speaking before handing over the items at Kapeni School in Blantyre Mnangagwa said leaders should look for strategies to mitigate effects of cyclones which will continue visiting countries
He said one of the strategies is to remove families situated in areas they believe disasters will occur
According to Mnangagwa the relocation is not cruel but love to the people therefore must accept to move to safe areas.
President Chakwera welcomed the advice from Mnangagwa adding the disaster management bill was presented to his office promising to sign it when he goes back to the capital city
Commissioner of department of disaster management affairs Charles Kalemba said Malawi needs 3 billion dollars to fully recover from effects of cyclone
From Blantyre Mnangagwa and Chakwera went to Thyolo where they inspected Conforzi Plantations Limited
While in Lilongwe he visited Parliament and Kamuzu Mausoleum among others and slept at Chikoko Bay in Mangochi
Meanwhile the Zimbabwe president has gone back to his country
