UNIMA students close roads, barring lecturers

University of Malawi (UNIMA) students have closed all roads leading to the campus, forcing members of staff out of work.

This is part of the vigils the students have been holding against their recently released academic calendar which has one semester and a five months holiday.

In an interview with radio Islam the UNIMA students’ secretary general Mathews Chiumia say the students are protesting because the duration of their studies is four years and such a long holiday will affect their education

Chiumia adds that they will not stop the vigils until the administration responds to their demands.
